Good morning all you fine people. We are a couple of days beyond the mid-term elections, and I've given some time to ruminate about what happened on Tuesday, and now I can express my thoughts.
HELL F*** YES!!! A complete and total shellacking by the Democrats all over the nation. Texas voted in a Democratic governor AND a Democratic Senator for the first time in over a generation. Heck off the top of my head, I think Ann Richards was the last Dem governor and Lloyd "you're no John Kennedy" Bentzen was the last Dem Senator from the Lone Star State. After a quick look to research that, I'm kinda right; Bob Kruger was the last Dem Senator, but he was selected to finish Lloyd Bentzen's term after Bentzen was selected as Treasury Secretary under the first Clinton administration. Kruger lost to KB Hutchinson in 1994. Richards was governor until 1995 when she lost to Dubya in the 1994 election. Now Texas has senator-elect James Talarico and governor-elect Gina Hinojosa and after they were elected, they celebrated in the most Texas way possible, eating at Whataburger. God bless Texas.
But wait, there's more! The late Lindsay Graham's Senate seat? Flipped to blue. Lauren Boebert? Bye-bye from Jai Alai. Vivek Ramalamadingdong? Schooled by Dr. Amy Acton. Keisha Lance Bottoms became the first black woman elected as Georgia Governor. In fact, she's the first black woman in the nation's history to be elected governor! Abdul El-Sayed clobbered Mike Rogers to win a Senate seat in Michigan. A Democrat won a Senate election in KANSAS. IOWA elected a Democratic governor. MISSISSIPPI elected a Democratic senator! It was indeed a blue tsunami, and the folks at Fox News handled it as well as you could expect.
delicious MAGA tears...
Then there's Florida.
Unfortunately, we dropped the ball on the assignment. Uncle Tom bootlicker extraordinaire Byron Donalds with his robotic voice won the governor's race. Ashley Moody won the Senate race. James (Ugh)tmeier won the AG spot. And Amendment 3 passed. Dammit man. That's the bad news. The good news is that Florida is now once again a purple state...kinda. The Republican super majority in the state legislature is broken, finally. But man, this sucks. I wanted Florida to get on board with the rest of the nation, but NOOOOOOO...
"But Bony, why should you care about this election?" Well, looking forward, I do have some potential step kids if things break my way whose futures I would like to see better for them. As well as others that I care about...I'm sure you can guess who I'm talking about. I'd like to live out my remaining years here in Florida too. These last ten years have been a lost decade if we're being honest, and I want to end my time on Earth whether it be twenty or thirty or more years to end on high note. So, to the DNC in Florida, I say this.
Here's hoping for happier days ahead for the nation.
