Face Value

 Good morning. Take a good look at this picture:

That of course, is the picture released yesterday of Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell in his hospital bed alongside his wife Elaine, quieting weeks of speculation and rumors of his demise. It looks to me and many others like a normal picture providing proof of life of the Senator.

Almost immediately after the photo was released, the tin-foil hat-wearing peanut gallery was already at it, claiming that the photo was AI, even so far as to point out inconsistencies in that photo compared to photos of McConnell when he was last seen in public some three weeks ago.

I know that we are in the age of Scamalot, but seriously, have we gotten to a point in society where NOTHING can be taken at face value anymore? If that is indeed the case, to quote Rob Reiner in his last role as George Washington, "we're f***ed."
