Hi there. Beginning today, I thought I would come on here every Monday and just write what's been on my mind for shits and giggles, because hey why not? This blog is usually nothing more than a shitposting outlet anyway, so here goes nothing.
Alexander The Greatest
Leading off this morning is the exploits of one Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals, who yesterday afternoon surpassed the legendary Wayne Gretzky in becoming the all-time leading goal scorer in National Hockey League history:
What an awesome moment for hockey and for sports, from arguably the best thing to come out of Russia since Stolichnaya vodka. There was quite the ceremony for him after the goal and quite the celebration for him after the game, which included an emotional moment from two of his former teammates.
Who'll Stop The Rain?
In case you've been under a rock, the middle of our nation has been getting pelted with severe storms over that past week. From destructive tornadoes in Arkansas, to near-biblical flooding along the Ohio River Valley, the mid-south really took it on the chin this week. How nasty was the weather, well, allow me to show you this picture I copied from Facebook from LiveStormChasers.com.
As you can see, Florida also saw some severe weather, including a tornado the hit the studios of WOFL TV in Orlando. It was a small tornado (EF2), but it did cause rather significant damage around Seminole County. Incredibly, it isn't over, not even for Florida, because old man winter wants to make a last stand before retreating up north for the summer. Bummer, I was hoping to take a dip in the pool this week (and maybe have a guest over 😉).
Dude, What Are You Talking About?
Here is a picture that relates an interview with the President from Fox News (who else?) over the weekend:
Seriously though, we need a little bit of context to figure out what he was saying or attempting to say. On Saturday, there were massive nationwide protests across the nation, which garnered anywhere from hundreds to tens of thousands if not more. In total, about 5.2 million people took part in the 1,300 events throughout the nation. Those was the protests Harris Faulkner were referring to. Trump's response? Different reasons (yes, but he could have named a few of them), but he never said the general reason (him & Muskrat). The next sentence made zero sense. Why were they there? To protest, obviously. Then the remainder. He said those protest were "a terrible thing." Compared to what, Mr. President? Your shanked golf shot towards the green the other week? 9/11? Hurricane Helene? The "plandemic" to which to completely botched the response to due in part because President Obama practically gave you an open playbook to follow but you refused to do so because you're petty AF. No, Donald people exercising their constitutional right to peacefully protest is not a terrible thing. Hell, it is a vital part of our very nation.
And no, those 5.2 million protesters were paid by (154-year-old) George Soros $100 each. Get real, dude. Then again, critical thought has never been a strong suit of yours, especially when trying to convey right-wing talking points. The only thing that needs to stop, Mr. President, is you talking about it, because you obviously have zero clue about what went on.
On a somewhat related note, the Nikkei took a dive today in Japan, so buckle up buttercup on Wall Street today. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
Wrapping Up On A Positive Note
Tonight, the Florida Gators will try for their third national championship in men's basketball as they take on the Houston Cougars and Robeson County, NC's own Kelvin Sampson. Tonight at 8:50 from San Antonio. Go Gators.
Well, that wraps up this post for this Monday. Make your day a great one.
