Flashback: April 20, 2007

  Hello again. We've reached the end of the week, and Easter weekend for most of y'all. Easter Sunday happens to fall on the 20th of April, which is important to me being that it is the anniversary of meeting the most important woman in my life. Also, it's important for let's just say other reasons. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a chart that fell on 4/20 that contained Snoop Dogg but be sure to leave brownies for both Snoop and the Easter Bunny Saturday night. For shizzle.

With that in mind, these were the Top 40 songs loosely based off Radio & Records Magazine for the week of April 20, 2007. 

40. Buy U A Drank by T-Pain f/Young Joc. I'm thinking Tequila this weekend instead of the usual Fireball. I won't tell Apopka native and country music legend John Anderson though (if you know, you know).

39. Nothing Left To Lose by Mat Kearney. I do not remember him, like at all.

38. The Kill by Thirty Seconds To Mars. Remember when Lindsay Lohan and Jared Leto were an item? Since then Lindsay married some guy from UAE and Leto made a hideous Joker cosplay as well as trying (miserably) to look like Jesus Christ.

37. I Tried by Bone Thugz-N-Harmony f/Akon

35. On The Hotline by Pretty Ricky. The hotline number? 1-900-SUCKER. Not sure if Drake will cause it to go bling, but I hear Kendrick Lamar is standing by.

33. Tell Me by Diddy f/Christina Aguilera. Tell me Mr. Combs, how many bottles of Johnson & Johnson's Baby Oil was used in recording this track?

32. Stolen by Dashboard Confessional. True story. On liberty while the Eisenhower was making a port call to Naples, Italy, I had a rather nice University of North Carolina ballcap stolen right off my head by some punk on a moped there. Asshole.

27. She's Like The Wind by Lumidee f/Tony Sunshine. I downloaded this song as part of a mixtape I made for someone who graduated from USF back then. I liked the original version by the late Patrick Swayze better.

26. Lost Without U by Robin Thicke. Before "Blurred Lines," this was his biggest hit.

25. The Way I Live by Baby Boy the Prince f/Lil' Boosie

24. Umbrella by Jay-Z f/Rihanna. annah-annah. Ay-ay-ay.

22. Boston by Augustana. Speaking of Boston, my Orlando Magic draw them in the first round of the NBA Playoffs starting this weekend. No, I don't expect them to win the series, but it would be nice if they won a game or two.

21. Over It by Katherine McPhee

20. Ice Bix by Omarion. Speaking of playoffs, the Tampa Bay Lightning open their playoff series Saturday against the dreaded defending Stanley Cup Champions Florida Panthers. Bolts in five.

16. Better Than Me by Hinder. I only remember them for two songs. Even though they're rockers, both songs were power ballads.

14. Makes Me Wonder by Maroon 5. Back to the subject of hockey, current Chicago Blackhawk Pat Maroon skated in his final game of his career this week. Unfortunately, the former Bolt never wore the number 5 in his thirteen-year career.

13. Face Down by Red Jump Suit Apparatus. Very powerful song regarding domestic abuse that didn't gain traction on pop radio until well after its initial release to rock stations.

12. This Is Why I'm Hot by Mims. Could it be because you're sweltering with no A/C? Possible.

11. Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne. Had to look up when Lavigne was married to Nickelback's Chad Kroger. Turns out they were married well after this song was released, in 2013. Speaking of Kroger...

10. If Everyone Cared by Nickelback. If everyone cared, we probably wouldn't be in the utter shit that we in the US are in. But we didn't like a candidate who cackled. Okay.

  9. Say It Right by Nelly Furtado. Bolstered by Timbaland as producer, this track helped spark a career resurgence and got her away from "I'm Like a Bird" notoriety.

  7. Give It To Me by Timbaland f/Nelly Furtado & Justin Timberlake. Pretty much the same as #9, with some help from JT, who was on another level back then.

  4. Glamorous by Fergie. Fergie was great with the Black-Eyed Peas, then went solo, but then came that performance at the NBA All-Star Game. Dwayne Wade is still trying not to laugh.
